Same here, for PvP - t2 crystals, for PvE - just use regular crystals. In my Retribution I use Multifrequency and Microwave as backup if I need range.

Not your setup, but what about pulse lasers with scorch ammo? Should give you some decent range...don't get teh beam damage though.
